Amazon becomes increasingly visible in the Polish market. The e-commerce giant will hire additional specialists at several of its locations.
Currently Amazon employs 1,400 people in Poland, and there are no plans to stop there. It’s worth noting that hiring covers not only warehouse workers but also employees at the Gdańsk research and development center. According to the company’s plans, an additional 200 employees will be hired by the end of 2018, increasing the total to 650.
Amazon focuses on software developers
Gdańsk embraces technology
Amazon's Technology Development Center is where specialized teams create modern solutions for the company’s products and services. This includes the voice assistant Alexa.
“Poland is not only a center for world-class innovation development, but also an endless source of talent, which is why we are pleased to announce that our Center is starting recruitment for new employees, including specialists in natural language processing and software developers.” — explains Rafał Kukliński, Director of Amazon’s Technology Development Center in Gdańsk.
Growing demand for e-commerce workers
In 2018, Amazon plans to expand its team by hiring a significant number of employees for permanent positions in its five E-Commerce Logistics Centers.
Amazon also emphasizes that already 7,200 Polish companies are actively using its services, which is why the decision was made to expand its activities.
Summary
Amazon is scaling up its operations in Poland — currently employing 1,400 people, and planning to hire an additional 200 by the end of 2018, primarily in five E-Commerce Logistics Centers. Recruitment also includes the Gdańsk Technology Development Center, where solutions for Alexa and other products are being developed.
Already 7,200 Polish companies use Amazon’s services, further motivating the giant to expand across the Vistula. Interestingly, the growth of the center in Gdańsk shows that Poland is no longer seen solely as a logistical hub, but is also attracting experts in natural language processing and programming.
