How it works

Four steps to your file

  1. Enter your domain and click “Fill in” — we build the sections from your sitemap.

  2. Adjust the site name and the short summary in the blockquote.

  3. Arrange the sections, describe the links and move less important ones to “Optional”.

  4. Download the file and upload it to the root of your domain: yourdomain.com/llms.txt.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

What is an llms.txt file?

It is a proposed standard (llmstxt.org): a Markdown file in the root of your domain that describes the site in a few sentences and points language models to the most important pages.

How is it different from robots.txt and sitemap.xml?

robots.txt says what not to visit, sitemap.xml lists every URL, and llms.txt is a short, annotated list of what is worth reading to understand the site.

What goes into the “Optional” section?

Links a model can skip when it runs out of room: archives, tags, extra material. The section name is part of the specification and stays in English.

What is llms-full.txt?

An extended version with the full content of the listed pages in one file. The generator prepares its outline: sections, URLs and a slot for each page’s content.

Will llms.txt improve visibility in ChatGPT and Perplexity?

The file organises information about your site but does not guarantee citations — some AI companies read it, others do not. Treat it as a complement to good content, structured data and an open robots.txt.
