According to a study conducted by Google in collaboration with Ipsos MediaCT, the average user has around 36 apps installed on their smartphone. But only one in four is used on a daily basis. Which ones are most successful and why?

ENTERTAINMENT AND SHOPPING

Which apps do we choose most often?

To find out why smartphone users download apps and how they use them, Google conducted a survey with Ipsos MediaCT on a group of nearly 8,500 people aged 18 to 64.

The results show that on a daily basis, we most frequently use social media apps (68%) and games (46%). Entertainment-related apps (33%) and shopping apps (19%) are also popular. Recommendations from friends have the biggest influence on what we download, followed by price. Most users believe apps should be free.

INTUITIVE AND PLEASANT

What determines our choice of app?

Apps that make life easier, are easy to use, visually attractive, and consistently improved are the main factors that influence our decision to use a particular app. All these qualities are met by SkyCash — a mobile payment system that allows users to perform a range of transactions: buy city and train tickets, pay bills with a single click, or withdraw cash from an ATM using just their phone.

FASTER AND MORE CONVENIENT

Mobile payments in practice

However, the service that users of the SkyCash app use most often is mobiParking. With it, you can pay for parking in a paid zone in just a few seconds — without needing to find a parking meter, exchange money, or guess how long your errand in the city will take (since you simply press "stop" in the app when parking ends). mobiParking is already available in over 50 Polish cities.

The study by Google and Ipsos MediaCT shows that we spend an average of one hour per day using apps on our smartphones. Half of us use them to pay for purchases — whether online shopping, flight tickets, or other services. This means that beyond entertainment, the practical benefits — saving time, energy, and stress — are crucial. SkyCash and its pay-for-parking service without approaching a meter are clearly solutions that greatly simplify life, especially for residents of larger cities. Another advantage is that the app allows you to handle many other tasks, and all transactions are fully secure. For more information, visit www.skycash.com.
