RBAC

Role-Based Access Control

An authorization model in which permissions are assigned to roles, and users gain rights through their assigned role. Simplifies access management in systems with multiple users and modules.

Why it matters

Reduces access management to roles: editor, publisher, administrator. A new person gets a role and immediately has the full set of appropriate permissions — without manually checking dozens of individual permissions.

What's missing without it

Without roles, permissions are assigned per user — after a year, no one knows who can do what, and revoking access requires going through every module.

When it is used

In any system with multiple users having different responsibility scopes.

How we use it

An editor edits articles, an administrator manages users, and a client only views their own project.
